Default 5200d pvr?

I tried today to have a USB HD in and record what I was watching on it. The manual only says go to technomate and download the PVR software and instructions, but for the life of me, I can't find either anywhere on their website. Is there anything special you have to do to get it to work?

The PVR capability is part of the normal firmware.

Here is the latest from Technomate

Yes, it would be there too, as the patches always do what the original firmware does. +more.

right, cheers for that, so. have you ever used the function before? as I said, I can't find any info about how to do it from their site, so I'm at a bit of a loss. yesterday, I stuck the drive in, waited for 'initializing USB drive' to finish, then pressed record on what I was watching, but that's when the strangeness happened. the picture completely disappeared and it wasn't until I stopped the recording that it came back. then when I checked the USD drive, there was nothing on it and nowhere (nowhere that I can find, anyway) to view what I had recorded. is that the normal behaviour?

Sorry, no.

I have a TM6800HD, which I presume to be the same. There is however some info on the Technomate website, regarding the formatting of the USB drive. This could be the problem. They supply a program, that runs on the PC to format the disk, so that it works in the TMs.

When I got mine going, I just got the cheapest Disk I could get from PCWorld, plugged it in and it worked straight off, perhaps I was lucky I don't know.

When I press the record button, the picture does not go away. To watch a recording I press the File List button, not sure if the TM5200 has that button.
