when this works, doesnt it mean that you can dispense with macs, just connecting with an unprovisioned mac, manually configuring your ip to allow access to the network, sitting out of any scanning range and enjoy ??

pls correct the gaps in my knowledge/assumptions where relevant

No, cos you still need a working authentication string to save a usuable Config file.

what had you changed your download speed to when you managed to make a working config?

20480000?

Funny thing is, my modem had been acting up for the last month or so when the configs were changed to the '******98-nb.cm', could'nt get more than 2mb and forcing was no good;

Then last week the configs changed to dynamic '*****5f1e8c.cm' etc. etc. and everythings back to normal with the forcing so to speak...

It only seems to work if I get online with a default 2 meg mac first, and then enable 'tftp bypass', force a dynamic config and reboot the modem. I've only used a 10mb config so far cos I'm wary of messing about when the modems working "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

And then Autoserve in Haxorware I presume??

Tell me;

Did you leave the file name the same?

What model modem was the original config from?

Did you just change the speeds and leave it at that or did you 'delete/amend' anything else?

Did you use Vultureware or DiFileCPE?

Did you bother with an authentication string?

BPI on or off?

I'm really curious to see if I can get this to work...

Thanks for the info...
