Thanks will try later. if everyone who this works for is on that tftp server then that could be the reason it's working. No cisco protection on that server. I might be wrong but it's a strong possibility.

Right tried the following : downloaded config that matched mac - changed download level to 38mps up - d/l kept the same . kept the rest the same.

uploaded config via haxoware .
Baseline privacy = Docsis 1.0

Now modem went online weird - howver i got a very low download speed 56kps - web seemed just as fast.

Next tried again but his time took out all the baseline privacy stuff from config. saved and uploaded via haxoware.

Baseline privacy = disabled

modem came online to my surprise although i only got want i would expect from a 20 mb file - even though i changed and uploaded file.

So i'm well confused now ..

I've been reliably informed that this config editing business was made impossible a few years back by the cable company.

I'm really waiting for the "eureka" moment when someone on here cracks it wide open.

Has anyone else had any success in this area yet? As far as I can see in my area, it's a no-go.

I will agree with you there. Here in Telewest land it is a no go and has been that way since about 2003 or so.

Some areas might be different but i don't hold high hopes.

Even if you did crack the auth string, as soon as someone posts it up and every tom dick and harry starts messing then they will just redo the config files with a new auth string and you are back to square one, not to mention crack down of cloners even more as they are taking the ****.

Also on this point although more upload would be very nice and it is needed as we have crappy upload speeds anyway, if you get 3meg or more upload then aren't you gonna start to kill your area? The upload channels are only 8meg max aren't they?

The modem itself has a max of 8mbps upload speed. I doubt that you would kill the whole area unless everyone was at it!!

Hey 50, what exactly was it you tried to do?

Are you getting IP Complete then it's rebooting?

Or are you getting IP Complete then no IP?

Are you getting a HFC IP? ie: 10.x.x.x but no internet IP?
