Hey mate, no the modem is not rebooting it just stays at Ip complete then dont move from anything.. lol if i plug my router in it works fine online with 2mb not forcing etc... when i just plug my modem in to the "local area" i get limted connect Auto IP address 169.xxx.xx.xx kinder ****ing me off now lol

Yeah editing a config won't work no matter what i'm afraid, due to the message integrity checks.

The configs are MD5'd with a 'shared secret' which we don't know...and never will.

If you think you're running an edited config...you're mistaken.

mine comes up with a illegal set operation in the logs and re-inits mac in a loop, i think there is a telnet command you need for this however that im missing? any idea's

EDIT: Ok two things i found are

cd nonvol
CD snmp
diag_disable_post_reg true

and tftp enforce bypass

will try when i get home from work

If you open the config file with a decent editor instead of Vultureware, you'll see 2 extra fields not handled by Vultureware CMMIC and CMTSMIC (where MIC = message integrity check).

These are the insurmountable problem.

If this method could work, then every modem modder in the world would just be creating their own configs with 100meg up/down.

This method has not been possible for several years..

YES IT IS!, i am getting full upload and download. Which is 38 down and at the minute about 2.1 upload. And i am using a 2meg MAC, and in the overview all there is a rts98 config.

Can you grab a telnet log of your boot process and PM it to me please?

If true it's due to a horrible misconfiguration of the CMTS in your area, so lucky you :@)
