Id say its only available to ntl users - I get
A user name and password are being requested by http://proxycheck.ntl.com. The site says: "By Invitation Only"

eh? You can't access the page? Strange!
I have no problems accessing it from any pc that i've tried, wherever i am. edit: Oh, it may be ntl users only i suppose, but then what would be the need for credentials if that were so? Ok, sorry for the bad link guys. Last edited by k.jacko; 01-07-09 at 10:52 AM. |

its not a bad link m8 works fine for cable users and its alot more accurate than others 50.0mb in 20 secs was doing it in 18 secs last night thanks

just looked at speedtest.net and they have a 'mini' service available
works on most webservers

Well its pretty simple.
You don't need any tools as such, just make a decent sized file, say 25 megabytes or so, the people can download it to test their speed. I would be more than happy to host a speedtest file on my server, if anyone is interested in having me do this, just post your views here. |

I have always found speedtest.net to be OK. They have a new addition on there called ping test as well.
I think the thing to remember is to do at least 3 tests each to different servers and then to average out the results.
