Default Thor 1w Signal Issues

Hi, long time reader first time poster i think.

I'm looking for a little help. I have a 1m motorised system which uses a Motek 2100 motor as far as i am aware. This is located on a pole in my garden. I have had the system now for a couple of years and i originally set it up myself.

However i have noticed that i get a pretty poor 60% signal quality on BBC World on Thor 1w which fluctuates down to around 53% and can start to break up. So armed with my crappy little meter i went and fiddled

After about 30 mins of adjustments i have managed to get around 65% which now fluctuates to around 58% but with very minor breakup.

Now all other satellites i get very good quality signals (I think) unless you can tell me otherwise. On my digitalb subscription on 16e Supersport i get a solid 78%.

BBHD on 28.2 i get 87%, 13E generally in the 80's again only on 1w do i get poor reception.

Now, not so long ago my son decided to ride his bike straight into my LNB and dislodged it somewhat and i was wandering could it be the LNB causing these issues?

Sorry for the lon post, and thanks for any feedback in advance.

Although it will most likely be the highest satellite in the sky for your location, it's possible you might have a line of sight issue, or you just may not be bang on alignment. The skew (rotation of the LNb should be at zero degrees (dead straight) whilst on thor. The only other thing is LNb focal adjustment within it's holder.

Thanks for your reply, i will take a look at the LNB tomorrow and reply back. I have ordered a MTI Supreme LNB as well just incase, was not alot so worth a try. Thanks again.

What about on 5W and 4.8E, or 42E and 45W?

If you are getting those well, I would suggest line of sight problem.

Think your right with the line of sight theory. I can't get 5w at all, however i can get 15w and 30w just fine. I think i can see the tree which is causing it, however it was never a problem for the last year. I will chop it down hopefully tomorrow

I fitted the new LNB and that has increased the quality by 5-7% on 1w so thats cool.

Will update tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks again for the help.

Just back from tree felling. Wow, 85% on BBC World now and 78-80 on Nova.

Definitely was a line of sight issue, now the tree has gone its superb.

Thanks for your help guys/girls.
