As far as I know you cannot use a standard VM Card as it is tied to a Set Top Box.
There are modified cards out there but that's beyond my knowledge.

I'm sure someone will be able to fill in the gaps for you.

thanks for your response toga for comfort.

from what i gathered, they're are CAMs where you can input your boxkey, the cam will then emulate your box key and the valid card thinks it's in the original stb...can anyone confirm this for me or should i be looking into other options... if any ?

Yeh on some cams u can actually change the BK or you can program the card to the BK of whatever it is of the CAM.

The JokerCam and its derivatives (IceCrypt, FreeX, SkyCrypt etc - and most other cams based on Neotion chipset) work fine for Nagra on HTPC systems and allows boxkey data to be entered.

don't think the current joker firmware handles nagra 2 or 3.

how u going to get the bk of ur subbed box....if ur planning to read the card then it will get marked which n*tl could possibly 'see'....if ur planning to jtag ur box then again not recommended to mess with subbed boxes...

ps don't think softcam handles N2 and certainly not N3

cheers

Oops, missed the Ireland bit in the initial post !

You are correct, the Joker will not handle N2 and I cant think of any other that will handle it properly as the N2 implementation tends to change on a per-provider basis. Each provider has an almost unique system.

Take a look at some of the Softcam implentations source code (if you can find them). N2 tends to be implemented as a set of provider specific routines.

Ireland, being fairly new, doesn't yet have any Softcam implementations (apart from the KV box and the very recent Itgate release).

It may be possible to use a subscribed N2 card on a dreambox but you would have to know the boxkey and the pairing pq rsa keys. You might just get those from an A05 card but certainly not from an A07 (which is the current version for all subscribed cards). Reading the box wont help as it only contains the public rsa pairing keyset, not the private one.
