i have an original 256 modem which i got off a mate when he cancelled his subscription can i hack this modem and if i can what would i need to do this or is there someway of using its original software as i have a 250 which is using infinte which is not working and have got a sb5101e using haxorware which i have got working but goes off after about 10 to 15 mins then have to wait about the same time again to get back online

Yes 256 can be moded, BUT you need a chip programmer.
And atm its a lot lot harder than say a 250 255.
There are so many post about this already have a read m8

you can get a pre-programmed spi chip with haxor on. this replaces the existing one

Even better and simpler:

Look for SOIC test clips.

They can flash the chip without removing it and dont cost a great deal either.
