255 with original F/W

Another 255 dilema.

I have flashed it with the latest UGM-BOOTLOADER-2.1.6e then flashe it with 2MB dump from an Ambit 250 containing the Eric 2.94.1010 Firmware.

now do i need to do these comands in hypertermial b4 I use 256 toolkit to change the mac? and do i need to use just 250 macs or i can use any mac really?

I didn't use any commands, I just created the perm using the 256 toolkit and entered 4 for max_dload_tries and put in a working MAC then flashed to sector 3 in Hyperterminal and it worked fine .

If you flashed a 2mb dump then there was no point in flashing a bootloader as this would have been overwritten. Or is it needed somehow?

Same as i dont think u can input commands into orig fw. Just make the perm and flash to sec 3 with a good mac if it dont work try another until u hit one that works. Im in pure and using a 00:02 mac which is a 120 config mac. Some 00:02 didnt work but some of them did. If u use a 250 config it might upgrade the fw to betty if u have max dloads set to 4 but since u have the UGM bootloader it may not so worth trying 250 configs aswell. U can always softjtag out of betty fw.

Cockneysean that bootloader makes the fw look like betty but doesnt update it so u keep the p option apparently. I still have to test. But yeh i thought 2mb would overwrite aswell am i right in saying u flash the eric fw then the bootloader??? I didnt know thats y i didnt flash the bootloader didnt want a brick. So bootloader goes to sector 0 after flashing eric? Right??

Bootloader only is sector 0 yes.

Sector 1 is the firmware.

Ok so:

Sector 0 = Bootloaders and 2mb dumps
Sector 1 = Firmware
Sector 3 = Permanent File (PERM)

I know the bootloaders are smaller in size but u just flash that after the orig fw is it so 2mb dump of eric to 0 follwed by bootloader to 0? Thanks havent had a brick yet and dont want one either. Lol.

Ok now am online using just the firmware and the bootloader, I have used 256 toolkit to make the mac but left Max_dload_tries as 0 didn't want to take a chance.

anywayz was i meant to flash the bootloader after the firmware or b4 the firmware?


PS: I am only getting "meg though.

every mac I try goes off after 3 or 4 hours what could that be? am i missing something or what?
