I've had by Kryptview running for about a year now, but lately whenever I turn the power off at the mains, it won't power back on again until I leave the box alone for about 2 hours.
If I try and plug it back in and turn on straight away, the box remains dead. This has got really annoying because (after the problem had already started) we've got some new plug adaptors that turn the power fully off if something is left on standby for a while - energy saving plugs. These aren't the problem because it was happening before we got them. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the power board inside the Kryptview itself. Anyone have any ideas what it may be, and how much it'd be to replace/repair? and also where to take it/order parts? |

If your lucky it will be the psu board at fault, if so then easy to repair, if it's the second bigger board thats faulty then not that easy to locate faults or repair as I stated on one of my other threads, if it's the big board then would be better off buying a new KV. AJ

I've not had a look at the CAPS on the board, as I'm not that technical.
All I know is that if I unplug the power to the box, and try and plug it back in straight away, it doesn't work. If I leave it for about 2 hours, it works again. It seems like the box needs time to discharge or something? so hopefully it will be the PSU board. I'm sending it to Jambutty, so hopefully his expertise will save me fingers crossed.

If I leave it for about 2 hours, it works again. This info Deffo tells me that there is a faulty Cap, what's happening here is this, it's just like a rechargeble battery, after yer charge them up say 200 times then they just start to degrade in time an won't charge up anymore so yer bin em and buy new ones. OK Caps are more sturdy and should last 15-20 years or even longer, BUT yer can get a faulty cap and it's lifespan can be like a rechargeble battery and start to degrade after a shorter time than they should. What's happening here is that when the box is unpluged from the mains, it is simply draining the cap rapidly and not storing a charge for next power in. Ok yer plug it back in and then it starts being sluggish and taking a long time to put the charge back into it, which it needs to fire up the box. Hope this helps, but as stated on my other threds please don't pm me for tech advice cos I can't advise without doing test on the psu. Hope Admin don't mind me putting this on but bottom line is if yer can't mend yer psu as danlat1415 says (he is not technical) then send it over to me and I will repair it within 24 hours. AJ
