I've been passed an EX1000SL by a friend to set up. The current f/w on the box says Kuro but all the sub channels are still scrambled. I've gone into Menu and tried to press the yellow button to bring up the key editor but it won't come up.

I was going to flash the box with the latest f/w off the chatterbox.cc toolbar but I'm not sure whether the box is genuine or a clone. Apparantly the box was bought from eBay.

Are there clones in circulation for this model? How can I tell if the box is geniune or not and will I be OK flashing it with one of the EX1000SL files in the chatterbox.cc?

Hmm,you shouldnt have bought off eBay. A good guy is Lincsat Nick-Nacks
who sells genuine receivers only

TBH, I dont know any ways of finding out if this is a clone or not. No one has uploaded a tutorial yet

Yes there is clones of the EX1000SL

Does it have a sticker underneath saying EUROVOX

To be on the safe side, flash it with the December firmware-that wont kill any clones off as clones are made to work with the current software. Maybe when we're next hit by VM, you may need to require a clone safe fix, but its still good knowing whether or not you have a clone

Yes. It's got the "Eurovox warranty void if broken" sticker and another with a barcode on.
