Hi
Ive just come across these cards to be used in pc's but the variety has left me confused. I currently have a digital tuner in my pc which works in media center, but want to replace it with a cable tuner so I can get rid of my cable box. Is it correct that only floppydtv tuners are only the ones that work in vmc? since my pc doesnt have a firewire port what other options are there that will work in vmc? also are there any dual tuner cards available soon? or will I have to buy two cards to get this functionality? since I only have 2 PCI slots (currently 1 taken up by tv tuner card) this would be a bit of an annoyance. sorry for all the questions, but I am really interested in this option. cheers |

The FireDTV isn't the only card that will work but it's reported to be the easiest to get working. Technotrend do a Cable tuner PCI card the tt-1501 which is supposed to work in VMC and costs about half as much. Haven't tried t myself as i wen't for the easyer option of the FloppyDTV.
AFAIK there are no dual DVB-C cards available. |

ive been looking into the tt-1501 but not sure whether to buy 2 for a dual setup or just get one and keep the dual tv tuner in as well. anyways need to get shot of the box first to get some of the funding. cheers once again! |

I've got 4 tuners all together, 2x FireDTV's and a Dual DVB-T.
They work very well together. And it's nice to have the extra DVB-T's as it gives you extra recording/Watching options.. I'd say, get one Cable card to start with and see how you get on, Then think about your options when you've got it all up and running properly. I've read other posts on the forum where people have bought the TT-1501 then sold it and bought a FloppyDTV due to set up problems, I'm not saying they don't work, just that the Floppy appears to be most peoples preferred option.. Good Luck.. Last edited by MortUK; 26-05-09 at 06:35 AM. |

Are you aware that you will need to download software to get your DVB-C cards to work with VMC? or buy a hard cam and card.
The software you can use is either dvbviewer or dvbdream with vplug and DVBlink. You can also download & install the vmc 'TVpack 2008' for a better viewing interface. For more info checkout Cafe.Racer thread 'Technotrend Cards & VMC'. |
