Default Complete satellite system for a newbie

Well, Im thinking of buying a complete motorised system-I know you lot will probably say that I shouldn't get a motor as a newbie or something like that, but I intend to just keep the motor and play about with it after I have aligned the dish to find just the one satellite

Im thinking of this setup(most from southern sat)
Receiver: cheap technomate for £20 from eBay(I am thinking of selling my dbox-see my classified and getting an openmedia 500cs as I plan to tinker with sat linux in the future)
LNB:Quad LNB(3 rooms)
Dish: Orbital 100cm
Motor: Technomate TM2200 super
Cable: 100m(Dont think Ill need that much but good to have spare cable)
Mount: I have absolutely no idea
Help:Sat finder and compass and the forums

With regards to the motor, I was talking to southernsat about the STAB motor and I got this reply

Quote:
This motor was the first all metal geared motor and is still the best USALS motor on the market as Stab invented USALS! The dish attaches to the motor arm that stands up right instead of down like cheaper motors.
Regards
Well right now I am probably looking for a really cheap system but may upgrade in the future. Does it matter what motor I get? And the dish, why does the Gibertini 1m cost more than the Orbital 1m?

You asked me the difference between the Dark Motor and Stab and hence the above reply. However if you don't want to spend much, then the Technomate TM2300 Super motor would suffice. Oh the price of the Gibertni is more as my buying in price is more, personally I now use a Orbital 100cm and find this to be a very good dish for the price. The Orbital is a steel dish where as the Gibertini is aluminum

I prefer steel, heavier duty and better in exposed locations. But aluminum is lighter and easier for installing at heights.

I'd second ssat on the choice between steel and aluminium.

If you are looking to motorise I would go for TK brackets with an appropriate stand off and Galv Steel Tube. Use 10mm x 60mm shield anchors minimum into brickwork to fix to.

Actually with regards to the LNB-say a receiver comes out and works exactly like the Sky+(if there isn't one already).Could I just get an Octo lnb and pull 2 cables in to each room? Also, would there be any signal loss if I used an Octo LNB instead of a quad LNB?

No differance in signal between a quad and octo lnb. The only differance you would see is a good quad over a poor octo just like a good quad over a poor quad. Don't forget though that only 1 reciever can control a motor so I would recommend a fixed dish for 28e with the octo and then a motorised as well. Your 28e dish only needs to be a sky zone 1 so won't add much to the cost.
