I am looking something really cheap to chip and I was wondering are there still guides how to chip the playstation 1? More importantly, are there any chips available for the PS1?

Google "PSX Modchip" mate and i'm sure you will find one. I have an old one here but I don't know if it works or not. It came from a working console so I presume it does. If you have a very old PSX (the first generation one) you can use the swap trick to boot backups, you can also buy bootdisks for the PS1 which work the same way as Swap Magic does on the PS2.

As I mentioned, I have an old chip here, you can have it for a fiver if you like. It is untested though so you buy as it is if you want it. Also, you will need to get some proper wire to solder it to the PSXs motherboard.

That's perfect mate, the list of console versions will give you a diagram for each so you know how to install the mod chip into every model.
