Default How to start... which pre-modded modem off eb*y?

Hi this is my first time starting a thread, I have read quite a bit and have got a vague idea of what I need and how to set it up.

1. Motorola Surfboard 5101E (haxorware) or N*L 250 (haxorware)?
2. Could i set the modded modem up, splitted from my orginal 250 modem... running both continuously? (is it safer this way?)
3. What are the risks if I download a good 8GB per month?
4. Could I get a MAC from my own modem, or a mates house about half mile away?

I would really appreciate your replies.
Thanks

1. Either will do, I'd probably go for a Ambit 250/255 thou but thats just me.
2. Yes use a splitter for 2 or more modems.
3. None at all id say i dl 10x that.
4. You could use your subbed or your mates as a basemac to sniff from, Remember to try a lot of macs before a stable one come along..

Probably worth investing in a MAX232 lead too.

Thanks for that
How often do you need to flash the modem again to get it working again?

If you buy the modem already flashed you shouldnt really need to flash it again unless you want to try fitz fix which has worked for some. If you keep at it with trying macs you should get some stable ones.
Maybe your area hasnt been hit yet but it probably will soon.

(sorry to hijack this thread but..) wouldnt using your own subbed mac be a little counter productive, or wouldnt VM notice too much if you used it?

Don't use your subbed MAC, and tbh, get an unmodded modem and mod it yourself. And as for 8GB a month lol, you'll be fine, I often download 10GB plus per day!!
