Question Starting from scratch

Hello Everyone.
I have only just started looking into satelitte. I am Living with my parents as I am only 18 and I dont have a well paid job at the moment blah blah. I basically wanted sky but my dad said no =/. So i started looking for alternatives... I am not in a cable area, and I am not in tiscali tv area. And somebody mentioned this to me.

First off, instead of me writing a 10,000 page essay I need to ask one question.

I cant put a huge satelitte dish on the house (my dad wudnt let me). We do have a sky minidish though from a few years ago that we arent currently using. Would this whole thing work on a sky minidish?
I understant I wouldnt get many channels but could anybody give me any information as to what i might be able to receive? (bearing in mind that i am a complete novice at all of this haha)

Any feedback at all would be a HUGE help to me.
Thanks alot guys hope this is my first post of many in the future

An option to consider would be Sky's Pay Once Watch Forever.. It costs a one-off charge of £73.40 including installation and equipment and no monthly subscription. This should get you many of the free channels, around 240+ channels as advertised on their website. You will also receive 4 sky packs for free for the first 4 months. You can cancel this after the 4 months and still continue to receive the free channels.

FREESAT from Sky - Pay Once Watch Forever - FREESAT from Sky

Or just get Freesat itself - no pay channels, and a reasonable choice of extra programming.
