Default Card Sharing with a Friend

Hey guys,

Since you guys have been brilliant in the past, I thought id like to give you all another test (yay for you guys ;-) ) in my next absolutely pointless task to get every single channel known to man (by that i mean Virgin + Sky)

Now, I dont have a Sky subscription, but my friend does, and he so graciously pays for all the channels, and well... ive co-ersed him into letting me borrow his viewing card for a couple of days in the near future

Ive bought a few FloppyDTV's (the S2 ones) and will buy the CAMs soon (maybe after a few people have replied on this) but.... my question bears

Would I be able to cardshare with him, and well... How do I do about doing it, Which CAM would i need etc etc?

If its at all possible, i would like to intergrate it with my current Virmin VMC setup.

Card sharing discussions are allowed in that members who choose to discuss it will give general info (ONLY).

If you want a detailed "how to" then be prepared to spend several hours with Mr Google.

However most of the old hands will not take part in discussions as to be honest its more hassle than it worth - all it does is encourage the technically inept to ask "tell me how to get free sky then"

Well... the idea was id pay my mate to have the HD channels with sky, because I get 99% of my channels through virmin, I dont need them again through Sky, i just wanted the ones i couldnt get with virmin.

So it wasnt a "oh free sky, gimmie gimmie" i just wasnt going to pay another £40/month to sky for the sake of a few dozen channels, when I could pay £15/month to my mate and call it quits

Take a good look at the cost's involved before you get to exited. You and your friend are going to have to shell out around £300 each for receivers (DM800 is your only real option for HD.) before you even start.

Yeah, it does seam more hastle then its worth, Shame coz I love the cable service but, theres only the 1 HD channel, and in my current setup, the VOD is useless to me. So was hoping for an even middle.

Then just as there was a glimmer of hope, they roll out new sky cards (damnit rofl altough they do kinda shoot themselves in the foot, cost them atleast £1mill to roll it out, for the sake of like 50-100k users doing it)

Ok well.. perhaps I better leave it, i woudnt of minded so much if it was just me that had to fork out for the stuff, but i wouldnt afford paying for him too.

so in essence, Ive given up before ive started :-D (yay for me rofl)

Forget about HD for now , follow Analoguesat's advice buy yourself a linux dreambox and you will have 10 times more channels than you are getting now with your virmin setup.
