a null modem cable only is the best, (one less factor to go wrong)
some people have a nightmare of a time trying to flash using null modem and usb adapter (although plenty have no problems at all) if you have no serial port then you will have to suck it and see or try to do it on a mates PC that has the port

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping that someone else also had the same problem & which converter they had used so that they could recommend it to me.

I am thinking to change from S3 to S4 for its PVR functions.
