What happens if you do not register/activate your copy of XP in the aloted time given?.......sorry to sound thick but I've never had this problem.

Did not realise there was ever a time scale to register a copy. The only thing you wont get is be able to download updates thats all.

Or are ya on about the 30 day countdown?

Yeah, what happens if you don't register it in the 30 days?

If you do not register by 30 days, you will not be able to get to the desktop screen. It will say, your version has expired, please upgrade and restart the machine. This is a scenario with XP Home edition. You would be bettor off upgradin to Windows Pro if this is the case. You do not have to format the drive. An upgrade will do the trick.
