you can get the max 232 from a popular auction site if you search max232 the top one that comes up will do the job for you. Although if I where you I would consider getting a surfboard modem and blackcat cable as all the latest ambit ones have taken an update from virmin rmeoving the P option from the bootloader and its a pain to get it back again. Alternatively go back to the popular auction site and search for ambit haxorware and get yourself a pre flashed 1

Do you have a serial lead?
You may need a usb/serial adapter if your PC doesn't have serial port or if you're using a laptop.

If on laptop get the converter, but if its a PC I would highly recommend getting an add in card that slots into one of your free PCI slots in your PC. This can eliminate some of the compatability problems that sometimes happen with the USB > Serial converters.

I was looking at this MAX232 adapter:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RS232-TTL-...item3f0fabb730 To connect the MAX232 adapter to an Ambit 256 modem, would I have to solder the wires from the MAX232 into the modem or can the connectors be plugged in somehow? Thanks Last edited by Ultima; 22-12-11 at 11:55 PM. Reason: forgot to add link |
