Default New to dreambox

Hi, I'm new to the dreambox satellite receiver and was wondering whether I would receive all the sky digital channels (moreso sky sports) through the box if I insert an official sky customer card. However, what would the requirements need to be as I have heard that I would need to buy a basic sky package. Is this true and can someone confirm any other useful information.

Thanks really appreciate your help.

You need to find whats called an EMU that will be capable of handeling the sky card. Some of which are called Mcamd camd etc and you need to do some research on these to see which one will read a Sky Card through this EMU using the dev/sci0 slot. But once a working EMU is found - i think camd works fine - You should be ok but do some research!

Regarding getting it you need to flash your dreambox with Gemini image or similar and you will it get it through there download section!

Which dreambox do you have slimshady because if its a clone, Gemini (wash your mouth out boy) will damage the bootloader. Use an image like Nabilosat Darkstar 2 for enigma1 machines or Nabilosat Blackhole 2 for enigma2 machines. Then download and install emu CCcam_2.1.1 and that will read your card.

You will only get channels that are subscribed to on the card.

You will ONLY get what the card is authorised for - there are no freebies with Sky UK.

If you are hoping to buy the bottom package and magically get all the channels forget it now.

this may be a silly question but does the card have to stay in the dreambox or do you just need the card to set it up

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have an openmedia 500cs, so Im not too sure about what enigma machine I have-I think I have installed a Nabilosat image that has "cats eyes" as the boot up logo
