The Box, i need help?

I got a receiver box called "the box", now my problem is i cant seem to get any power ghoing through it, and it wont lite up .

My mate says he has to come up to mine and switch on a plug in the virgin media box out the front of my house, is this true that the box will only work with the boxer connecting through the coax cable?

If it wont light up-its a power board problem-You either need it repaired/you need to get a new one

And yes it will only work through the coax cable that VM provided
