I am a new baby @ this forum. Please be kind...Thanks

How do I know the type of box (in order to upgrade the firmware & How do I upgrade the firmware for this box)? This box is similar to the one below:

Is it possible to connect this box to one of the cables (e.g. virgin media) and with the help of upgraded firmware - view all the channels ???

I am unable to locate the remote for this box...Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction...

Hi lgindia,
welcome to the forum, and I'm sorry to point out a few things you've got wrong.
1 You have posted in the wrong place, this has absolutely nothing to do with Satellite.
2 From what I can gather, the Woolworths Worthit box is simply a freeview tuner and can only pick up terrestrial freeview signals so there's nothing else you can do with it.
3. You haven't listed your location or whether you are even in a cable area, is it cable you're interested in or satellite?
I shall leave this thread here, for now, and hopefully you will return and supply us with more details, at which point I shall move it to the correct forum and hopefully we will be able to help you.

Thanks for warm welcome!

You are very correct. Its a free view box (picks up @ 40 free view channels and displays the same).

I am located @ London and I have got a virgin media cable running around. In fact, my broadband provider is Virgin (through their fiber optic cable)

I was wondering if I can upgrade the firmware and eventually load the box with some kind of decrypt s/w ...thus enabling all virgin media channels.

You fail to understand - its a DTT box - it doesnt work with cable in any way shape or form

Now that we know what you're trying to do we can point you in the right direction.
As Analoguesat has pointed out your box is useless for what you are trying to do so you will have to buy some new equipment.
To decide what you need have a read through the sticky threads, the threads at the top of the section, in all the UK cable sections.
After you have read these please post a new thread in the relevant section.
