I thought I'd post a quick step-by-step guide to setting up what is now the best PS3 DLNA server solution available.
1. Download (Download at bottom of post) and install ffdshow 802 (no need to change any install or decoder options at this stage). 2. Download and install TVersity. If TVersity gave you an error about launching the server after installing, launch it manually now via the Windows Start Menu (in Vista right click "Start TVersity Media Server" and click "Run as administrator"). 3. At this point you must add TVersity's "Mediaserver.exe" and "TVersity.exe" as allowable exceptions in your firewall (if you are running one). 4. Launch the TVersity GUI application via Start Menu or desktop shortcut and add media to your TVersity library by clicking the green plus sign towards the top left of the interface. 5. In the GUI, set up your connection and resolution options within the "Transcoder" area under the "Settings" tab. I suggest setting your max output resolutions to whatever your PS3 XMB is running at (ie; 1280x720 for 720p), but only if your PC is dual-core. Please do not change any other options as it will almost certainly screw your veiwing pleasure! Scroll down and hit "Save" at the bottom right of the "Transcoder" screen. 6. Head on over to your PS3 and search for media servers if TVersity hasn't already automatically popped up under your XMB "Photo", "Music" and "Video" categories. I'm now listening to music and seeing 720p video sources begin streaming on my PS3 virtually instantly in full resolution with supurb quality. It should hold you all over until XBMC is ported across to Linux. *Download for FFDSHOW 802* http://www.after#dawn.com/software/v..._802__20070120 take out the # Can't take credit for it but thought i'd put it here incase anyone wanted to set up their PC to play videos ect on the PS3/TV. Maybe stickied? Enjoy. Last edited by xiah; 08-06-09 at 11:20 PM. |
