Both of these boxes are now fully working in Ireland and they're available for the same price from the supplier I'm buying from. Problem is, the Kryptview is currently not in stock and won't be until the 20th of June. The Kryptview was my original preference, because they were the first to work again, since the fix, in Ireland.
Now that they're both working, I'm at a quandary. What do people think is the better box, the Starview 4, or the Kryptview A750? |

no, we're not Nagra 3 yet, I think, only some channels. I've a Starview 2 currently and that's good, bar sports & movies. but the Starview 4 and Kryptview are confirmed as being good for everything. I understand things change consistently and in a few months, everything could just go again, but I'm an impulsive guy and want to get a new box and seeing as there's a definite choice, I don't know which one I should go for.

how come this was moved into Kryptview? this is a question about which is the best box to currently get for Ireland, between the Kryptview and Starview...

You mention Kryptview so I presume that is why. For better support I would go with the Kryptview as the SV4 is only now fixed in Ireland.
However the SV4 is a single tuner PVR and the Kryptview is a standard DVB C box although add a DVR and you have solved that. The Itgate is also working on Nagra 2 in Ireland using Hypercam, its a linux based box. However when Nagra 3 is introduced thats another story. |

but is it not true that the Kryptview people are relatively new on the scene? I mean, is there any guarantee that their support will continue, or would they just drop this box and move onto another model? sure, Starview took longer for the fix, but they did continue their support and eventually released it.
I know most of this is speculation and everything will shift and change with Nagra 3, but I just wanted to get some of your esteemed opinions. satsmo, do you honestly think Kryptview will be better supported? |

It has been well supported so far as they have been the first to release a fix both in Ireland and the UK for the past few occasions. The Kryptview team are far from new to the scene

oh, I didn't know that, I was sure I read somewhere that that box was one of their first in this area. were they doing hardware before, or just one of the 'fixing' team?
one way or another, you're saying go for the Kryptview, for sure? |

I gave you the option of three that currently work on the 1801, (N2), stream in Ireland. The best supported is the Kryptview in regard to updates and turnaround of updates. I have no affiliation with any of these boxes, so my recommendation is based purely on what I have seen.
The pros and cons of each are as I have highlighted. If its just for watching TV then yes the Kryptview would be my choice, if you want more from the box, e.g. streaming etc then the Itgate would be my choice. But obvious cost difference. |

cool, I appreciate it satsmo, it'll be the kryptview I'll go for, thanks. when things settle down and if some of the boxes are knocked off with Nagra 3, I'll wait to see what's the best then and maybe go with one of the Linux boxes, they seem to have the best features and the like.
