Default Ambit 255

Hey guys.

So, I've been given an Ambit 255, with stock FW - I plan to flash it later.

Since I've never touched Ambits before, anything I should be aware of?

Also, is the RS232 pin-out for the 255 the same as the 250? (Cannot find one for the 255!)

Before I do flash it, would anyone benefit from a 255 dump?

Thanks in advance guys!

Bricking it. Make sure you read a tutorial so that you know which sector to store each flash. Yes, the pin-out is the same.

Other than bricking it?

Got the readme with console unlocker, anyone know of any tutorials other than that which is from the readme file?

Thanks guys!

Nope, not really. You just have to try different inject delays until it unlocks.

Thanks buddeh.

Been reading up so pretty sure I know what to do where to go now etc, but, any ideas what sort of delay is most likely to help?

Anyone else found a particular delay that helped them?

Cheers again Blakey, appreciate it buddeh

I did wonder if thats why there was no specific tutorial for the 255!

Thanks for confirming

I did not get round to playing with the modem last night, still reading up on console unlocker.

I booted the modem up (not connected to coax) and had a quick look, it was last online in september ('08), appeared to have the latest VM firmware, so I guess I will need to unlock before being given the 'P' option!

Is there a way that I can take a complete dump of everything on the modem before I start messing about with it? And how would I go about doing such?

Thanks again guys, very much appreciative of this support

Once you have used console unlocker on it an enabled the console you can use soft jtag to read and backup certain parts of it not sure how much use they will be as if you brick it you need to lift the chip as there is no JTAG on it
