Default Modified boxes only showing basic channels.

Hello everyone, I've been reading these forums on and off for several months trying to gauge an understanding of how these boxes work in case I ran into a problem myself. Lo and behold here I am without a clue and not entirely sure where to start! I have a pre-modified Pace DI4001NC and Samsung SMT-2100c that both decided to stop working on Saturday. I was told they were fitted with “rollover cards” that in the event of VM changing the signal/frequency the box could be reset and the new frequency could be found. Both boxes have been reset multiple times with no effect so I’m starting to think the problem may take a bit of tinkering. Both boxes power on and can be used to view a channel but the boxes are only showing the basic freeview channels whereas before they could be used to view any channel. The card provided in each box seems to be a basic NTL card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like the rights dates on the cards have expired mate , You would need to re-program the dates and all should be back to normal.

Thanks for the speedy reply! I've searched through the forums a bit and cant find anything relevant as to how I would re-program the rights dates on the card(s). Any advice or step-by-step would be greatly appreciated.

Get the person that modified the boxes for you to redo the cards.
The modifier may charge this for it to be done though.

If you dont wanna go down this route then you can get a card programmer depending on the card you have. Either a MOSC (You need a phoenix programmer) or Funcard and then use a program that is obtainable from here to reprogram the card.

Your best bet is to ask other people on here for the program and help to doing it.

Read the card with NagraEdit 4.1 , Open the data editor tab , Scroll down to the tier and change the following to:

Modification date : 19 3C
Begin date :1E 28
Expire date : 37 29
Rights date : 35 29

After you have changed the rights , Select write to card , When this is completed stick it back in the box and all should be back to normal.

If you are a novice at Writing mosc cards may i suggest you make a back up copy of the image before you start ( The card also holds vital information such as BK & IRD )in case it all goes Pete tong

You guys are quick! Well I've lost contact with the guy who I got them from so it looks Ill be doing it myself. I'm not sure what the difference is between a Funcard and a MOSC card but there are two card programmers listed on Lincsat's shop (Infinity programmer and a Phoenix programmer). Thanks a lot for the step-by-step guide g80878.. I will give this a shot once I found out which programmer to get. I probably owe you a pint!

If there are any numbers written on the underside of your boxes make note of them , But if not exercise extreme caution when reading the cards as without these numbers these boxes could become a headache and would require additional equipment such as Jtags etc to get them up and running again.
