Default Andrews 1.2 m dish setup

I am thinking of buying a new dish and the channel master 1.2m is top of my list. Can this dish be motorised using a technomate or motek motor??
Or do I need to buy the polar mount and jack arm with it? If so what size of jack arm do I need? What size patio stand do I need 2 or 3 inch? do I need a vbox to control the motor or is it done direct from the receiver? Also is it difficult to connect the dish, polar mount and jack arm? or is there instructions to tell you how to do it? are all nuts and bolts supplied? Can someone also tell me how this is connected? does a cable run from receiver to v box to jack arm? or is there 2 cables? I dont want to buy if it is very complicated so any help will be greatly appreciated

can i buy a jaegar 1224 motor for this? does this motor still require me to buy a polar mount? what lnb is reccomended for this dish?

regards

Lots of questions.

Never fitted a CM1.2, but I do know that it can be used with a Jaeger 1224 and you don't need a polar mount as well, it's either one or the other. The 1224 is an H-H motor much like the the Motecks etc, but has no DiSEqC and is bigger and stronger. You would need a V-box to connect to any receiver that does not have 36V (most don't). The 1224 is fairly easy to setup, very much similar to the Diseqc motors, but has much finer adjustment capabilities.

With any 36V motorised system, you need two cable runs, one for the motor, and another for the LNB.

hibees04, if you are in a windy exposed area, go for an actuator and polar mount it is a far more robust arrangement.

The Channelmaster requires a feedhorn and c120 mount lnb for best results.

The satellite positions are programmed from the receiver but once you give the sat positions specific numbers during setup, make a note and those numbers will remain allocated so that if you reflash the receiver then you just need to enter the numbers into the receiver. You wont need to search for the sat positions again.

i think you might find it hard to buy a polar mount for the andrews dish as i believe they are not longer made

if you buy the 1224 motor i would recommend buying the 3inch patio mount as it will get a better grip on the pole.

the 4 core cable goes from the motor to the vbox.

then on the vbox you connect the cable from the lnb and a cable to the receivers lnb input.

then you select diseqc 1.2 positioning on your receiver and then you have to search and store the satellite positions on your receiver.

once all that is done then you can freely move around each satellite.

i would recommend the 1224 motor i've had one for a few months and very good for moving the dish and built to withstand strong winds.

the 3inch groundstand can be quite expensive those which are held down with paving slabs

what you could do is get a length of 3inch pole and get someone to weld a steel plate to the bottom and some side supports to bolt to a large paving slab maybe ?

If its going on the ground, you could also dig a deep hole, and mount a 3 inch diam pole in it with concrete.

If you cant weld (me neither), holes can be drilled at the bottom to put some rod through to stop the pole twisting in the ground. The pole must be vertical though. A B&D workmate is ideal to hold the pole straight while the concrete goes off.
