Default Zapped by Virgin

as title says I have an old modded Pace box with a What seems like a chip and pin credit card in it that says Nagravision on it I have had 3 years of faultless use out of this card but sadly it died a couple of days ago .
I dont know the geezer I got it off and I'm not to bad on the Pc so I am gonna have a go at sortin it myself .
What is the best route to take reprogram (if Poss) or buy a Funcard. Got my self BigMaq toolbar and I have an 8 and a 16 digit alphanumeric numbers written on my box.
Would some kind person give me a shopping list requirements of Hardware, and software, and a "walk through guide link" thanks in anticipation

If it says Nagravision on it then its a Mosc - an original provider smartcard which has been modified.

Your next stage really depends on whether you have the boxkey for that box or not. If you dont then you have two options -

1/ Depending on box model use LEDSim, Jtag, Chip lifting/reading etc to extract boxkey and then program a new card (Funcard etc).

2/ Read and modify the card. How to do this depends very much on the card Rom version and revision level.

Those alphanumeric codes are the IRD and Box Key that TheCoder talked about above mate. The card has most probably been modded before otherwise the numbers wouldn't be there. You will need a smartcard programmer capable of operating in 3.68MHz Phoenix Mode. The USB Phoenix and TMC Phoenix Progammer both do this perfectly. You will also need a program called Nagra Edit, you will find it in Downloads.

You need to read the card in Nagra Edit, browse to tier 8 (the pink one on the left hand side of Nagra Edit, it will appear once you have read the card) and change the Rights Date and Expiry Date. If their are two pink tiers, change the dates in both. Use Nagra Date to calculate a date, enter it in US format (MM/DD/YYYY, use a date in somewhere like 2012 or 2015 but don't go to far ahead) and press convert, it will return a four digit hexidecimal code. Enter this four digit code in both Rights and Expiry dates, press write, and once it says successful, insert the card back into your box and leave it on BBC One for 5 minutes then try a premium channel (Bravo, Sky Sports etc). If you did everything correctly, all your channels should be back on. I hope this helps you mate, it sounds complicated I know but it really isn't .

I am still looking for an area code detector software to no availl !! I've had a look around Bigmaq and cant see anything that comes to mind..I believe I am supposed to be looking for Chaos v3 but so far no good! I* know you cant link on here but could someone give me a bloonin good pointer or PM me. Thanks

No, you would need a Funcard programmer to do Funcards mate. The Infinity USB Unlimited works great with them but not so good with MOSCs. TMC (www.tailor-madecircuits.com) sells a Phoenix programmer and also a Funcard one which is £7.

If have the infinity USB (not unlimited) does fun and MOSC's no problem at all and are reasonably cheap, but you need a serial (RS232) port for it on your PC

dont get a USB to RS232(unless you dont have a PC, but instead a new laptop) Instead get an RS232 PCI card Dont know why you would need two, but Im sure the second pot could be handy

Theres also a one port one for 0.38 less and a used one as well. Have a look here

If you are wanting it ASAP, then the UK seller's prices arent that bad
