Im not sure of this is 100% correct but I know it will work if you connect the tx of your 232 to the rx pin indicated by this diagram. and the rx of of your 232 to the tx indicated on the diagram you dont need to connect anything to vcc and you can use either ground but I had better luck using the one closest the enet port.

Sorry if the above is confusing I was trying to explain it from a picture I took of my 232 when I had it all setup.

yeah mate done that an still no joy will be somethin stupid unlocker stating open everytime but in hyper no p option jus runs straight thru an softjtag error all time

You sure your modem isn't bricked? Check the front of the modem when you power it on, does the ENET light flash very slowly? If so, it's bricked and will need a TSOP lift.

Ok, it's not bricked. What operating system are you running? I know Windows Vista has issues with these programs. If you are on Vista, try using Virtual XP, this will enable you to use your Vista PC as if it was on XP but still running Vista if you get me lol.

You wont get the p option until after you have managed to softjtag it as some p***k at ambit wrote a new bootloader that removed the p option and disabled the console. What you need to do to get this back is re-enable the console using console unlocker once this is done you then use soft jtag to re-write the bootloader giving back the P option. So firstly fire up hyper terminal connect to the com port your 232 is attached to, then fire up the modem and watch it boot. Once you get to the line saying disable console output close hyper terminal and open console unlocker now put inject delay at 4 or 5 and click execute exploit. When you get the message about console is now active close console unlocker and check the console is active by opening hyper terminal and verifying you get the cm> prompt as console unlocker sometimes lies about working when you have verified that has definitely worked close hyper terminal and you should be ready to try soft jtag. If you get really stuck

right all previous reply's are correct if ur modem has the alex or betty update then consol is disabled.
i have written a tut it seems to be everywhere so search for it.
If you have as u say have a fresh instal of xp do the updates notable the dotnet and netframework one.
Firstly disable any anti virus and firweall even xp's own one.
Then make sure you have all files needed ie unlocker ambitconfig tool bootloader soft jtag i prefer the first version but 3.10 is ok too and TFTP server sofware.
Right also have ur max lead and network lead connected
Set the network to 192.168.100.10 etc etc you should know all this if u have read the haynes manual etc etc.
Now open consol unlocker then soft jtag then TFTP server locate the firmware image ur going to use and select it.
Ok now fire up the modem with all leads connected (not coax) u will notice the lights come on then the pc saying ur connected now run consol unlocker hit execut expliot and wait if it says consol disabled etc etc then its ready dont close it now start soft jtag check that serial is selected for connection ok click connect once connection is established and write bootoader is visable click this leave all settings as default explore for ur bootloader file and flash it it will take upto 15 mins
If it fails or you cant get an error in soft jtag do not power down the modem just click disconect in soft jtag and close it open hyperterminal and keep hitting enter until u get cm prompt if u get this type flush it may not show but hit enter
if you cant get cm prompt then restart pc then start hyperterminal again and try again if you do get the cm prompt then type flush and hit enter again.
Right now try soft jtag again if all is well it will flash fine now if not repeat above but this time power down the modem once the flush command has been entered in hyperterminal and start whole process again its a pain but you will get there.
But first thing to do is check the modem lights before starting any of this if the modem fires as normal all lights then after about a min the enet light goes out then a few secs later back on ur wasting ur time its bricked despite wether or not u can see anything in hyperterminal it just wont have it.
The only option is ti lift the tsop.

You need to close hyper terminal as only one program can use the com port at any one time!
