Default SB5100 Flashing F/W by JTAG

Hey there,

I bought myself a a SB5100 so that I can flash Sigma rc 1.06 (the one with the coax side sniffer) so that I can sniff for MAC's in ex-tw areas with ease.

I've never flashed any type of Surfboard before and I was just wondering how I do it by JTAG.

Is it just a matter of flashing with the JTAG cable and a 10-pin header with JTAG Utility? If so, what are the commands? Is it the same as flashing a 2mb Hax dump to other modems? And on that note, does anyone know where I can get a 2mb dump of a Sigma install? Any kind person got one that would like to help me out with?

Thanks in advance

If thats the best you could come up with, then you might as well not have bothered.

Thanks for your time anyway.

Also, this is not covered in the Haynes manual which is getting more and more outdated every day and does not deal with the current firmwares at all.

For all the time I've been a member here these responses are typically made by persons who do not know they answer so they just chip in with "Haynes Cable Modem Manual LOL".

Honestly, I try and help people out as much as I can

I wasn't asking anything related to the Haynes manual, I was asking about JTAGGING a SB5100 with a 2mb dump, so that the knowledgable users here could fill me in on the situation.

Bottom line is; if you don't know, just say you don't know, don't just blurt out HAYNES CABLE MODEM MANUAL; it's the most annoying thing I have ever encountered with this site. I try help people out as much as possible unless I genuinely don't know, and then I will say so.....

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hey 666,

Can I still use Tom's JTAG utility?

And do you have any idea where I can get a dump from?
