Default Pin Reset? Please Help

hi,
i have an old pace ntl box thats modded and working fine but ive not been able to access any channel that asks for a pin as i dont know the pin number. (ive tried many different variations and just get the pin locked each time) a friend of mine has said there may be a way to reset the pin? i know how to access the engineering area but with a pin already programmed it wont let me edit the pin.

any help with this would be very gratefully appreciated.

There is indeed a method for resetting the pin, several infact AFAIK.

From what I remember, you can set the NetID and pin at the same time with a funcard/atmega, but if you are in pure area, you won't need to do this.

You can pull the red jumper/short the battery to set pin and NetID to defaults, you will of course need to set the NetID if not in Pure, but once the red jumper has been pulled you can then enter the engineers menu and set the pin!

(Ensure the box is powered off when removing/replacing the jumper, a few minutes with the jumper removed should be suffice, do NOT do this with the box plugged in, certain death may well occur!)

What area are you mate, and what pace box is it? (Model no)

Hit me back, we'll get you rolling again

first thing you need to do is establish what area you are in...

it will be either pure ntl, ex cable and wireless or ex telewest (there are a few sites about, cant remember of the top of my head but just search for 'ntl region checker'

if in pure ntl. you can simply pull the red jumper near the battery on the board inside of the box, if you then hook the box back up and boot into eng menu, it will now let you change the pin.

if you are in ex c+w or telewest, you will also need to set the net id. (this is automatic in pure ntl)

if it is a pace 1000, 2000 ect which has a serial port on the back, you need a serial cable and a program called libdebug. (just check our downloads section). this will let you set the net id.
if its a later version of pace, it may not have the serial port on the back of it. in this case you would either need a max232 adapter (+soldering skils) or a serial/scart converter.
if you have a funcard and funcard programmer available to you, you can always do the net id and the pin number with a 'netid funcard'

best case scenario - your in pure ntl!
fair case scenario - you are in c+w or tw and you have a 9pin serial cable lying around and its a 2000 box
worst case scenario - your in tw or c+w and its a 4000 series box which refuses to change net id with funcard method

go here to check your region -------> dslzoneuk.net/ntl_region.php (+www)
