Default Big TFTP change

It seems areas that were not running encrypted configs now are using them. I noticed about 3 days ago and then yesterday posts cropped up sayign about it. And these are truly encrypted configs, not just subsitituted ones like the JKHSUB etcetc that have been rolled for ages. They are a fixed length and are calculated in a way we dont know. It seems however that you can still force these dynamic configs. by taking the config file name usually A********************.cm and then applying that as a forced config to another modem.

I did think a long time ago (when the 20 moved to 50 frequencies) that it wouldnt be long before they removed normal configs from tftp or even just 20mbit configs.

In some areas this will mean a reduction in speed for your clones as they will not be able to pass the requirements to sync onto the more secure BPI 1.1 network shared with 50mbit. This will mean the max speed for you will be 10mbit, unless forcing the business config works for you.

It also seems like they have either removed completely or renamed the normal configs such as cmreg-ntlhm250-bas.cm i have tried running and or downloading configs on all the tftp servers. At the moment it seems like only a force of a business config works such as pkg1/2/3.

Can I ask for a little more info regarding this?

And, what area have you tested this, what are your sources for the information - please understand, I'm not suggesting its bulls**t, simply want some clarification, and to test it myself of course!

So you are ex-cw too?

I am definately in pure, so I'll give it a whirl in a few minutes, lets hope I don't f**k the modem over now lol!

Especially since I gotta sort out some modems this weekend for sparky21, last thing I need is the magic to stop - here to it!
