Hi,
First time here, 80 years old so bear with me, thanks for the fitting instructions read them all, I bought a Fortec kit and have fitted it up at the back of my house. I worked off a platform. Got it working on Usals and picked Up Astra with lots of stuff on the scan including the BBC and ITV progs which have a yellow star besides them on the tele screen list. When I select them I get nothing, the other progs I do get are mostly foriegn on 12441 V 27500. I get other Satellites OK. I have a signal meter and have peaked my signal as your instructions. any help would be welcome. My receiver is the FortecStar Passion+. My Sat Motor is a Nikkai. Oly |

Hi,
have you entered your longitude and latitude correctly for USALS to work? Which Astra are you selecting, to watch BBC,ITV etc, you need to select the one at 28E. Also make sure that your transponder lists are correct, consult lyngsat.com Is the receiver getting good signal quality when you go to 28E, what do you get if you do a rescan of the satellite?

Did you align the dish to the correct satellite for your location to start off with that will be the centre of the arc?

Sorry it took me a while to get back, I have been reading through the forums. Thanks to you for answering.
I have a Fortec Passion+ kit, I have used diseqC and have got lots of results from 30 East to 30 West proving my arc and setup, mostly round strength 80% signal and quality. I have concentrated on Astra 28.2 and the scan was prolific but all at /27500 no /22000 at all. The BBC and ITV showed on my list but the /22000 ones say no signal and the /25000 ones say no video or audio. Iget loads of foriegn stations the lowest viewable signal I have is at 11224/27500. I have tweaked the dish, the arm, the LNB, for maximum quality using a signal strength meter and the bars on the tele. I am lucky that from my ariel platform I can see the tele through the window, plus my wife is interested. I borrowed another LNb with the same results The Fortec scan does not seem to pick anything up when set to advanced DVB.S2 I have rambled on a bit, thanks to all who put there knowledge on here I have taken advantage of it. Regards Oly |

You shouldn't get loads of foreign channels from 28E.
What channels are you getting on 11124 ? Are you sure you have the correct satellite?

I set up on Thor it being 1 deg away from my true south and used Diseq 1.2 to go to the Astra 28.2 then nudged the motor using my, reciever set up program, for best signal.
On my program list after I did an all channels scan on Astra 28.2 - 1st BBC and ITV interspersed with foriegn these all show up with an indication star and are not viewable until I get to Mango 24, which denotes in a box below - Astra 2A 28.2 E 11389 H 27500 Pid V 517 A 700 P 133. Next a long list of foreign until the box moves to Astra 19.2 again more foreign until Thor then onto Hipastat which I chose to prove my Western arc. I thought when I set up the receiver to scan Astra 28.2 it would ignore anything that was not Astra 28.2, am I wrong with that. My wife is using the Tele now so I wont be back checking until later. I have printed Lyngstat BBC and ITV data from the PC. I will check mine against them. I was surprised what small adjustements were needed on the dish for big results with the signal. The forum certainly helped me on that one. Thankyou for your help. I am still puzzled why I cannot view anything /22000, I must have something wrong on the advanced scan setup. My Fortec System is up to date. Regards Oly |

Mango 24 is only on Hotbird 13E, if you can watch that when you think that the dish is pointed at 28E, the dish isn't pointing at 28E, the wrong position is stored. You need to nudge the dish around a lot further.
Oh, and there is only one transponder on 13E that uses 22000, that is 11541V. Yep, you are wrong. Scan a satellite, with the dish pointing elsewhere will give you the wrong channels, but it will still scan. Some transponder frequencies are common accross many satellites.

Right, good, I see I have a bit of work on, I appreciate you giving me the advice, I can't do much now until after the weekend but am itching to follow your instructions.
I did try USALS but after setting up wrong, I need to reset the motor which put me off. Press both direction buttons with power off, holding them power up and wait for a flashing light, then set up on Thor, I am at 1.3 W 53.5 N, Thor at .8 W. Thanks again, will let you know how I get on. Regards Oly |

Hello Again,
I have followed the instructions above and with my LNB at 10 past twelve I have got all the Satelites spot on agreeing with the Rotary dial on my motor set up. I used Thor to set up on and this time made sure it was Thor. I tried both with Usals amd DISEqC 1.2. I have now got both low and High band. The Low came in with the LNB tweak. Thanks to all who answered my cry for help and to all who put instructions on the Forum regarding motorised systems. I am well pleased, with a few hundred channels now to keep me busy sorting and editing. The HD ones come over good. Thanks once again. Regards Oly |
