I have had my Dbox (nokia) for 3 years now, and would like to know how I can record programs. I haven't taken my dbox apart to examine what lies beneath to be honest, and the noddy guides I have aqquired only state the limited memory the dbox has. Can anyone help me with my quest please!

you could set up a dedicated pc to stream movies to the dbox and also use for recording from the dbox.
i had a set up like this years ago when i could be a**ED playing !! the recordings were good though after some tinkering about. there are a few easy to follow guides out there in the forum... also on other forums just google for that. ive only seen one with an internal ide hdd fitted and the box was overheating most of the time cos of the extra baggage and hdds run hot too which doesnt help, when the box overheated it froze which wasnt good when recording the match! i believe doing it the external way to be the best method then the box just has to feed the pc rather than turning the dbox into the borg. also you can then stream the recordings back to the dbox to watch what you have recorded,, most of this is software based too so should be easily available. have fun playing with it, i did... regards dave |

Thats great news, I am off work next week so I will obtain a guide and crack on. Is there any particular software which you recommend as I imagine there will be a few to choose from. Many thanks for your advice both of youl.

errm wingrab springs to mind but there are others...
easiest way is to google for recording from dbox to pc and read the guides but its very possible and will work. all you need to be sure of is you have an image that doesnt freeze.... to help with this i run a fan sucking out the hot air from the dbox on top of it...without it i get a freeze twice a day or maybe a bit more.. with it my box recovers from the odd freeze so recording wouldnt be too disrupted!! good luck mate and have fun with it. regards dave |
