This box isn't capable of decoding any HD format , if you wanted to view the 1 and only HD Channel you should have gone for the Eurovox EX7000HD

If your using the standard audio out ie. white & red the best to expect is 2 speaker audio , Should you be using the optical output you should at least get pro-logic

Sounds like an interference problem , maybe from a DVD player etc. What quality are the leads your using , Not advised to use cheap cables on a screen of that size. pop down to comet and buy a few monster scarts you will notice the difference.

whats the point of insulting your 50" with a cheepy tesco scart , i would invest in a quality scart lead but these are budget dependent , i personally use QED for all my cables but can get quite expensive. If your on a budget use monster or even jvc do some nice chunky cables , they really do make a difference especially on larger screens and high grade equipment.

If you've gone from a crt tv to a 50 inch flat screen you'll never get the picture you're looking for with these boxes.
Get the best RGB compliant scart you can afford and be satisfied you're not paying the full subs
