Default Satellite signal lost as tree gets leaves

Any advice would be appreciated - I'm new this year to satellilte dishes

In January I put a 60cm dish up for Astra2 using a signal strength meter. It feeds into a Panasonic tv with integra freesat deoder.

All was well until late spring when, over cthe course of a month, the signal degraded and then went all together.

I have just spent an hour up and down the ladder trying to re-align it better or find a bounced signal (not even sure if thats possible). After much twiddling I have ended up without the Astra 2 sat being found. The auto set up shows an 8 on signal quality (soild green bar = good) and a 10 o signal strength (but in a greybar - not sure if that means good or not) - but still no satellite found.

As I'm already using a larger dish, are there in-line amplifiers I could use?

I don't have anywhere on teh house wher I get clear line of sight to the satellite now the tree is in leaf.

Thanks for any guidance that anyone can give.

Andy

Trees knacker the incoming signal if their leaves are in your signal path. No amplifier is going to help - you need to either prune the tree or move the dish.

Remember the dish doesnt have to be on the house - it can be in the garden as long as theres clear line of sight to the ssatellite

If you can't find anywhere suitable at all at your property I would be surprised, but if you can't, go get a chainsaw.

Copper nails into the tree roots are also a good one

You two are darn right meanies, when it comes to trees.
Remind me not to hire you both for garden landscaping
@HandyAndy
As already suggested, try giving it a light prune,it doesn't even have to be a hard prune, assuming it can be pruned at this time of year.

There's a place for trees - anywhere that aint in the way of a dish.

I chainsawed two biguns down so far, it was great fun!

( planted a couple of smaller ones eleswhere to make up for it)

Look along the line of the LNB and cut a hole in the branches through which the dish can see the satellite. Dish should be retuned to 28.2 East or whatever sat you were on, Remember, if Sky, then signal will be at around 2pm level.
The hole inthe branches woudl mean that the tree lives for another year!
