So would this be the same card that is already in the box, and if so is there a way of preventing it from being de-activated etc bt V*M, if so, then just point me in the right direction and i'll do my research

So you have a Dbox or a cable company box? If you have a Dbox, then no need for a card. If you have a cable company box, then you will either need a funcard or a mosc
