im assuming you,s lads either work for vm or are really clued up on your tech knowledge, if its the former, do you know if theres about to be something major in the pipeline as regards to eurovox, starview etc. ive been advised off a friend of a friend, who told me or anyone i know not to buy any more dodgey stb,s as the plug is about to be pulled so to speak. ive heard loads of rumours, they,re changing encryption, and it,ll be as foolproof as sky,s nds system, and it will not be hacked. and if this IS the case, then who better to ask than you lads. any info, much appreciated.

Nobody knows for certain but some work has already been done by VM on their latest box (the 3110) with the inclusion of their NGCAM system.

This looks to be a cardless system which works solely via a talkback and session access system. Boxes are verified/validated before they are allowed access to a session key which is then manipulated inside the box to produce the stream operational keys.

The benefits of a cardless system are, of course, that VM can effectively change things whenever they want without having to issue several Million new cards......

The downside, is that this system appears to only run on the latest boxes. That could possibly mean a very expensive box swap which I personally dont see occuring any time soon.

I would suspect that is related to the IPTV system that has already been announced. The big advantage of IPTV is that you would not need a VM connection to subscribe - any Broadband Internet connection would do it.

If we get free TV for one more year, whos complaining? Also, if the coders have indeed made patches for linux receivers then, whos complaining then?-Like someone said, they will probably at least go to nag2 before they do anything else
