As far as I can make out there's 2 types of 'dynamic' config formats in use:

1) Completely random characters for the filename. Changes every boot. Cannot be forced.

2) Filename starting 'a' followed by random chars and ending '.cm'. These do not change every boot. They can be forced or even autoserved using either docsis 1.0 or 1.1 config files obtained using a 20meg unforced MAC from the same model modem.

If your modem can't lock the docsis 1.1 frequencies like mine, you will have to use a docsis 1.0 config.

In my area at least, the type 2) configs have only been in use for about 3 days.

So again, it depends on which method your area is using.

For those of you it's not working for, you'll see you have a 'type 1)' dynamic config allocated to you via DHCP.

You cannot force if your area uses type 1's, only if it uses type 2's

thanks sr20, after reading your post and one from Fitz on another thread, set my BPI to 1.1 and now can getting 20MB with this config! looks like im not yet dynamic thanks guys!
