Question Complete Novice

First post, so Hi to you all...
I'm thinking of changing from Sky to my own Satellite setup, but need some help.
I could go with the new Humax PVR freesat for the easiest, and use the Sky dish, so what advantage over this setup would I have if I bought say the Technomate 6900 HD combo and 1mtr motorised dish.

I've looked at all the channels in What Satellite magazine and cant see many more that I would use, I dont want any film or sport channels so would the extra expense be worthwhile?.

Any advice or ideas would be much appreciated...

Personally I would not want to be without my motorised dish, I really never watch anything from 28E, there's far too little choice. The Humax HDR can be used to drive a motorised dish if necessary though.

Hi Robbo

Thanks for your reply.
Do you think it would be better to get a Technomate HD or equivalent, than the Humax HD PVR.
Besides all freesat I like to watch mainly documentaries.

It is your choice. I suppose if you don't want foreign progs, footy or movies then a Freesat system would probably do you. You do miss out on a lot of chanels that are available elsewhere though. Whether this extra choice is worth the extra cost is your decision.

All I would say is if you just want 28E then get a Humax HDR or one of the other Freesat receivers, but if you go motorised it is better to get a TM6800/TM6900 for example.

Also remember that the HDR has twin tuners and a 320GB HDD where as the Technomates can only record the channel you are on as they are single satellite tuners and no internal HDD, plus only a now and next EPG.
