No, Genuine Starview 4's do not have a heatsink.

Only the cheap chinese clones have a silver heatsink. As the heatsink itself is square, you may find that the lines going horizontal or vertical.

The processors that the clones use have not passed the quality control, i.e. The processors yield temperature exceeds the recommended value. Therefore a heat sink is used to keep the temperature down.

I will take photos of both genuine & clone receivers side by side, and post them here in a couple of days.

Whats the problem that you are having with your clone? Did you install v1.10 on it?

ant get into menu cos i cant see a picture so cant put fta stuff back on!!! am going to send it back tomorrow and plead ignorance.
have checked scarts etc, they all work fine on my setup. even tried them red/yellow/white tings from box to tv. no luck. thanks for the help again...

I compared a clone & a genuine receiver this evening. The clone is a piece of sh*te honestly. The material used to make the entire unit is of poor quality.

I wanted to stage a senario where i was intending to brick the clone by installing the v1.10 software. I turned it on for the 1st time & got the 8882 error. I got my 8882 jtag out and went to fit it into the mainboard. The 8882 jtag connector does not even fit on to the mainboard.

I hear the clone sellers will need to solder a chip on to the mainboard to get this sorted now.

My advise keep away from these dodgy sellers who dupe you into buying a genuine receiver which is actually a CLONE

Bubblesupplies were notorious for shipping Clones previously, they bleat on throughout there website that they sell only Genuine Items and no Clones (Not quite true)
It’s looks like there back on the Clone bandwagon.
If people are aware of what there buying that’s fine I guess as that’s there choice but I do think for the sake of £5-10 it’a false economy.

Clones Have and do get killed on a regular basis.

One of my friends just bought a Eurovox EX1000 from Bubblesupplies, that's a clone also.

Do a little research before buying from this supplier.....

Yorkshireboy, the Eurovox EX1000 SL has been cloned since February 2009. The only way you will find out if you have a clone is by installing the February 2009 software update. The bootloader will be erase & the cloned box will look like it has no life, i.e. it will look dead.

Alot of the well known traders who had reputation for selling genuine receivers only, have now started selling clones. There are only a handful of 4 or 5 traders left now who only sell genuine receivers. Cheers
