Hi I have a Sagem Dbox2 with no power.
Was working fine and then it made a spark and something blew up. 1. Would getting a new power supply board fix the job? If any help is available would be great. Cheers

Open up the box-see if there is a brownish hole on the back of the power board. It may just be a really easy solder job

Hmm. That I wouldnt really know, but I have some sort of idea. Sometimes on a PC when the power supply blows up, it can take something with it-Most likely the mainboard. However sometimes when PSU's blow up, nothing else is damaged(this is the more likely thing to happen as well)
I would presume the same thing to happen with Dbox's |

I had one do exactly the same but the PSU had scorch marks all over so I ended up buying a new PSU. I struggled to find one though, I ended up buying from a shop in Germany. DBox spares I think it was called, not 100% certain.

dbox2.com is the shop that sells them(normally) but the cost of the PSU really isnt worth it-€63.75 for a power board(delivered). I dont know where blakey_8 got his from. If I was you I would just buy from the place called Dbox spares, but I couldnt find that shop
Could you open your receiver up and pull out the power board? And tell us of any abnormalities on the board eg: leaking capacitor, brown hole instead of a soldered one etc... A brown hole should be easy enough to do-just resolder in the same place and a capacitor should also be easy to do(as long as you have a desoldering iron) Last edited by waqasahmed; 24-06-09 at 04:56 PM. |
