Question should i sniff for macs on my subbed modem

when sniffing for macs should i be useing my subbed modem or the one i,m trying to do .. any help greatly apreceated .....
many thanks in advance for any advice ....
mine is a 20mg 256 but i,m trying to do a 250 for a friend ....

how would i get the mac and config from my working 256

If you're using DHCP sniffer you don't need to. Just click the arrow next to 'Discover' and tick 'Bruteforce'. Then It'll do it's thing.

ive heard and read that if u put a base mac most recent and workin one it suppossed to get good results up to u buddy u can just leave it like that it will do the work also

Just tick bruteforce connect your subbed modem and have a few beers while it scans for macs the longer you leave it the better the resluts you get

You can do passive sniffing (listening only) from your subbed modem but never attempt to do active scanning from a subbed modem.

As a point of interest, VM now have "listeners" on most segments that are specifically looking for active scanners. They dont actually seem to be doing anything with the data yet but they are taking note !

An active scan should NEVER be run for more than a few minutes at a time and preferably never more than once or twice per day.
