Pre-teen kids should never really be allowed to use the internet unsupervised and i'd certainly never allow them to have an internet connected computer in a bedroom etc.

Filtering software is worse than useless. Any determined 8 year old could get past most of them in minutes. Kids actually swap bypass techniques at school and can be quite knowledgable about networking etc

I'd also ban all pre-teen kids from having mobile phones or at least limit them to simple phones that dont have internet connectivity. Tbh, the majority of kids just dont need mobile phones !

lol, agreed, at 14 i was hacking into my school network, using programs i shouldn't be able to, playing games that weren't "accesible" pretty much getting access to all the files and all the servers, less than a year later and they completely changed the systems so everything was tracked etc with an integrated system, and they told me exactly what i'd looked at...they still couldn't tell me how i got in the system lol
