Hi my brother is under 16 and he wants to set up a ebay account..

You need to be 18 to set up an account to buy and sell, but he has a paypal account and a debit card..

Does it really matter if he says he is 18? Would ebay ever check?

The sensible thing to do would be to get a adult to set up the account and take responsibilty for it.

Just change his date of birth they never check , just when it comes to selling you have to verify by giving them a landline number then a computer ring you with a verification code.

at 13 I was mainly buying, its only when I was 15 when I started selling(same thing with paypal-they dont check your DOB, though if you have a problem with paypal/eBay and you need to phone them then you're pretty screwed if they ask for a DOB and you cant remember what you put down)

It just shows that you have to be very careful if buying from ebay, if they allow under 18s to sell stuff.
