Default skystar2 hd

hey guys:

my exams just finished so i am trying to build a satellie pc:

basically i intend to use:

skystar 2 hd (buying it off ebay) with the main intention is to use card sharing!!

i intend to buy 1m dish.

(my pc processor is e6400 dual core 2gb ram)

now i am stuck at this problem!

should i buy a multiple lnb setup or should i opt for a motorized system which i think would be more costy and harder to setup?

thanks

motor defo, not as hard as it sounds... you may struggle to run it with the pc. you may find a cheap stb better to run the motor.

yeah thats what i read that i might not have enough power to run a motor via a pc card damn.

so i must opt for a dreambox dm500s since it is the cheapest and allows me to card share.

you CAN run the motor via the SSHD2 as i have, but it can be very temperemental. i'd go dbox if u wanna c/s anyway as linux is the way to go apparently.... try looking at the AZbox £250 gets u HD!

i was going to choose skystar as it is a cheap solution..
but i think i can still do it using say 2 lnb's only to get hotbird and astra only. i think that sky is found on these 2 satellites so if i manage to get cs on skystar it would be a great idea cos certainly i cannot afford a huge initial cost.

sly is on 28e, sky italia is on 13e(hotbird) and all the german stuff on 19e(astra) - might be worth noting card SHARE you need to have something to give, not many freebies out there....

processor ram-wise u are fine, not sure on the graphics card i'm not familiar with it... does it support h264 dxva? if so get the release candidate of windows 7 (free) as it supports dxva thru h264 passes a lot of the processing to the gpu.

Ive got the SS2 hd with CI i run a 90cm motorised dish from my PC which is home built 2.8 Intel Pent 4 duel core HT cpu...2g ram Nvidia Quadro FX1400 graphic card.....Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card ... I run the card with DVBDream and and as advised by Technisat i have purchased the Pro version of DVBViewer
the channels recieved are great ......picture quality was good and when i did have an HD TV (which was faulty and had to go back) it was fantastic through a HDMI cable
But im still looking for a good working emu as i cant seem to get v-plug yankse or any of the others working ..a lot of this could be down to the fact that i get my broadband Wifi from a communal feed in the flats where i live,,,and cant open the portforeward
hope this helps
