I got two modems last summer, flashed and ready to go. First one is an Ambit 200 Model 08004EU, 2nd one is a 250 model SB5100i.

Can anyone give me some pros and cons for both? Also, as they were bought last year, will they still work or will I need new firmware or anything?

first u need to find what firmwares they are on. try http://192.168.100.1 and see what firmwares they are on. in that doesnt work try http://192.168.100.1:1337 or http://192.168.100.1:666

there are alot of firmwares u can put them on but the best firmware for both of them is SB5100MOD.

Ok just connected them up to lappy and they are both running SIGMA-X2.

now that u know what is on them, u can decide them if u wana change firmware or set them up as they are.

0 mac, they better with those kinda macs.

What's the best one to use then? Are there advantages and disadvantages? From what i've read the 250 is much easier to brick but you can get faster d/l and the 200 is pretty robust but is prone to rebooting and slower d/l. Is this right?

I done my m8 200 with SB5100MOD firmware and its been on all these trouble times with 10 meg D/load speed over 2 months now i think.

so if u can get ur ambit200 running i think its steadier than the 250/255

Cheers for the help mate. Gonna have to pay someone to put SB5100MOD on it as I don't have jtag or blackcat cables, will save me a lot of hassle with mac addresses etc too.

Just leave it with the sigma-x2, I have a few on the go with 20 meg and they have been running for months.
