Unhappy Reprogramming a V+ card

Hi,

Apologies if this has already been answered in one of the many other threads but I am a complete noob to all this. I don't have any card equipment or software.

I currently have a V+ cable box which was working fine for a few months but has recently been restricted to just channels such as BBC1, BBC2..etc. I am aware the card needs to be reprogrammed, but I just need help on how to do this, and am willing to buy the neccessary equipment if someone else cannot do it for me.

Would really appreciate any help

Thanks

You will need a Phoenix Programmer and a program called Nagra Edit. You need to read the card using the program, click Tier 8 (the pink one) and edit the Rights and Expiry dates. If you have multiple Tier 8s, change this information in all of them. To make things easier, use 399F for both the Rights and Expiry boxes.

Phoenix Smartmouse or Infinity USB Phoenix Programmer. TMC (tailor-madecircuits.com) also has a Serial Phoenix Programmer which works great, I have one myself .

Thanks. i'll go for one of the usb ones mate.

ok now which one should i go for, the smartmouse or the infinity? the infinity costs twice as much, but i assume it will support more cards or something. will i need all this extra supporting of cards tho? (in the future maybe?) or is it better in other ways too? easier to use maybe? i don't know

so which one should i go for? (sorry if i'm being a bit of a numpty on this one, i'm just a complete noob to all this!)

oh and which version of nagra edit is best for my needs? would also appreciate a link to the download.

Thanks for all the help!!

p.s. i'm not sure what type of card it is, mosc or funcard, i don't know the diff. all i can say is it looks like a normal v+ card with the vmedia logo on it and all

Hi,
MOSC stands for Modified Original Smart Card. By your description, your card falls into this category.

Secondly, I am concerned about the statement "has recently been restricted to just channels such as BBC1, BBC2". Are you still renting the box from the Cable Company, even if this means free tv because you have other services from them?

If so, DO NOT TOUCH THE CARD. Never touch a subbed item. If this is not the case, play as you wish. If the card has not been touched before, you will need to unloop it. Another expense I am afraid

If you cancelled the package, then they may have sent a false box key to the set top box, (almost a definite). In which case you will be back to the same square after you've spent your money.

If you go to the Private FTA, the first post is what you are after. Download the V+ application and you can use the files/programs on it. Also, have a read of the cable guide. It will explain many things.

I have a problem using the Infity USB Unlimited, (others are fine with it), the cheap £15 programmer works a treat.

Good luck

Hi there,

In response to your questions...

I'm not renting the box from them, i bought it off ebay more than a year ago, and everything was working fine, all unlocked, until a few months ago when most channels stopped working and only the free channels remained.

I think the card has been touched before, because it did work fine when i first purchased it? would that be the case?

I'm not sure about the history of the box so it might just be that a false box key was sent to the box. Although what i can tell you is that when it was all working, it did run very slow (flicking between channels) and someone i spoke to said the previous owner must have tried ordering ppv on it, which allows vm to know it isnt a legit one and therefore they send some sort of jamming signal to it?

i will check out the other forum you mentioned and will purchase the cheap £15 programmer!

Thank you!
