JTAG is my fave method for doing those.

Less faffing about than MAX232 method.

So all I need to flash the firmware with blackcat jtag and thats it, no max232 required to put any fireball or boot.exe like some other modems.

cheers

no mate, to flash it all you need is a 25pin S sub and a yard of solid cat5 (poor man's blackcat)

Yep no "p" option or console unlocker or any other black magic. Just click the button, select the firmware image, click OK, have a cup of tea and watch your fave tv program, by the time its finished so is the modem.

You only really need to MAX232 the Ambit 2xx range as they dont have any JTAG points with which to JTAG.

JTAG is also handy to have, as if you were to do the MAX232 method and balls it up, you'd need to buy a JTAG cable to fix it anyways!
